Lioness Awards Program 1999-2000
The Lioness Awards Program will be
centered on the Lions Five Star Awards. In order for a
Lioness Club to earn the award, it MUST complete ALL of the
following award category requirements.
The award categories are as
follows:
CLUB ADMINISTRATION &
MANAGEMENT
- Monthly M& reports are to postmark by the 5th of
the month following the month that reports covers.
- Regular attendance must be at least 50% of the
membership each month. Make-up meetings will be
acceptable by attendance at Board meetings and/or
visitations.
- Attendance at least one Advisory Meeting by the
President and one Board Member of the Club. The President
may designate a substitute as necessary.
- Submit the Officer Reporting Form to the Cabinet
Secretary and the Lioness Chairman showing the 2000-01
officers no later than April 15, 2000 does.
COMMUNITY
SERVICE
- To satisfy the requirements of the award, a club must
complete a minimum of 6 separate community based
activities. Club involvement can be in the form of
financial contributions by the club or personal service
by club members. All services must be documented on the
monthly M&A report. Following are examples:
- Services to the visually impaired
- Services to the hearing impaired
- Support to the elderly, youth groups, community
food banks, and HELP Organization
- Support to hospitals, libraries, schools,
community centers, and community health fair
- Support to volunteer fire and rescue
operations
- Provide food baskets, clothing, rent/utility
expense, and other aid to the needy
- Support scholastic events including scholarships,
band and sporting expense, and other school
activities
- Donations to medical equipment loan closet
- Other worthwhile activities that the club deems
appropriate
DISTRICT
SERVICES
A club must complete ALL of the following
requirements:
- Support their sponsoring Lion Club in providing blood
mobile, vision/health screenings. If the sponsoring Lions
Club is not involved in any of the above activities,
participation in these events may be accomplished through
volunteering at District sponsored/community activities,
i.e. Mobile Unit, and health fairs.
- Obtain used eyeglasses equaling, in number, at least
50% of the membership.
- Send in Band & Scholarship Pledge Card to Cabinet
Treasurer no later than November 15, 1999, with
contribution to be received by February 15, 2000.
- Financial Contributions to at least three (3) of the
following activities:
- District 22-C Eye and Tissue Foundation,
Inc.
- Lions Camp Merrick
- Multiple District 22 Vision Research Foundation,
Inc.
- Leader Dog Program
- Participation in one of the following activities:
- Volunteer at the Eye Bank Mobile health
Unit
- Volunteer at Camp Merrick (i.e., clean-up day or
Open House)
- Send a shipment of stamps with a total weight of 3
pounds
- Participation in the Peace Poster Contest
COMMUNICATIONS AND
PUBLICITY
A club must complete ALL of the following
requirements:
- A successful visitation program with at least six
Lioness or Lions Clubs. Completion of this category
includes Region and Zone meetings, social, fund-raising
events, and regularly scheduled Lioness and Lion's club
meetings. A club may be visited twice but not with the
same visitation team. Visitations outside of 22-C will
not court as two (2) visitations. Visitations must be
cleared with 24 hours notice to the host club. Visitation
slips must be submitted monthly with the M&A report,
as well as to the District Visitation Chairman prior to
April 15, 2000.
- Submit two newspaper articles concerning individual
Lioness club and its contribution to the local community;
on at least one occasion distribute flyers about a
planned Lioness/Lions event in your community/District
22-C. This is encouraged). Copies of news articles or
flyers are to be submitted with the monthly M&A
report.
- Three informational meetings from the following:
- District 22-C Eye Bank and Research
Foundation, Inc.
- Lions Camp Merrick
- MD 22 Vision Research Foundation
- Leader Dog Program/Guide Dog Program
- District/International Convention
- Roaring Lions
- Hearing Conservation
- Diabetes
- Lions Stamp Club
- Lioness Chairman
- Local Community Service Organization
- Provide at least ten (10) newsletters during the
Lions Year 1999-2000 to members of the club. Copies
should be provided to the following:
- District Governor
- Lioness Chairman
- 22-C News Editor
- 22-C Assistant News Editor
SOCIAL
ACTIVITIES
A club must complete ALL of the following
requirements:
- Hold a Club Certification Night.
- Participate in one joint Lions/Lioness function other
than a Certification Night.
OUTSTANDING
AWARDS
MEMBERSHIP
Membership as of April 15, 2000 must be
increased by a total of 2 over the May 31, 1999 membership
count. Members lost due to death will not count against the
membership count; transfers to local clubs will count as
lost membership. A transfer-in member shall not count as a
"NEW" member.
VISITATIONS
Visitations to all Lioness Clubs in
District 22-C at scheduled meeting times (this does not
include Region meetings, etc.).
BLOOD MOBILE
To satisfy the requirements for the
award, a club must assist their sponsoring Lions Club in
procuring blood donations (units), equal to 25% of the
active members of the sponsoring Lions Club as of April 15,
2000.
DISTRICT
GOVERNOR'S AWARD
To satisfy the requirements for this
award, a club must successfully complete the 5 Star Award
and successfully complete 3 of the 4 outstanding award
requirements.
DISTRICT
GOVERNOR'S OUTSTANDING AWARD
- Attendance by two separate teams of
Board members at Advisory meetings (i.e., President, and
Secretary at one, Treasurer and Vice President at the
second).
- Subscription by at least ¼ of
club membership to 22-C News (may include officers, but
not Lion's spouses).
