The Lions Low Vision
Center at the Wilmer Eye Institute, John Hopkins
University Hospital, Baltimore, Maryland is a
Lions Multiple District 22 project. The Lions
Low Vision Center project was unanimously
adopted and is 100% sponsored by the five
Districts, with over 300 Clubs , that make up
Lions Multiple District 22.
The Lions Low Vision
Center is a refuge for treatment and a training
ground for Low Vision Center professionals
throughout the world. The Center is a leader
among the more than 50 Low Vision Centers found
throughout North America, Europe, Africa, South
America and Asia.
Accomplishments of the
Center's professionals include:
- Designed of low vision
and blind approach meters for the Washington,
Virginia and Maryland Metro
System.
- Perfected the
successor to the Low Vision Enhancement
System (LVES), virtual sight
apparatus.
- Contributed low vision
expertise to the Bureau of Engraving, US
Treasury for the design of the newly released
paper money.
The Lions Vision 2000
Endowment Fund, a proposed four million dollar
endowment fund, was established to support the
annual $200,000 operating budget of the Lions
Low Vision Center. If you would like to assist
